The Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering was established in 1996 as part of the Faculty of Engineering. The Department today is recognized for its excellence in teaching and training in a range of undergraduate and post graduate degree and for providing an outstanding research environment for staff and students. The department has experienced faculty in different fields of specialization.
The programme in Electrical and Electronic Engineering is designed with the purpose of preparing students both for a career in Electrical Engineering profession and for further studies in applied and theoretical research. The goal of the department is to graduate engineers with a strong level of knowledge in the basic areas of Electrical Engineering who are equipped with the capability and capacity to carry out research, and who maintain high professional ethics along with public awareness and environmental consciousness.

Electronics & Circuits Device Lab
This laboratory is used for undergraduate electronics, logic design and telecommunications experiments. The laboratory houses 35 state of the art test and measurement setups each including a power supply, a multimeter, a signal generator, a mixed signal oscilloscope and a personal computer. The laboratory is also equipped with the necessary hardware and software for experimenting on field programmable gate arrays.
AC & DC Machines Laboratory
Electrical machines lab is equipped with various types of AC & DC machines, Coupled sets, Alternators & Synchronous motors, Cut Models of various AC & DC machines are also available for demonstration. Special machines like AC servo, DC servo, Permanent magnet motors, Stepper motors etc., are available for supporting the project works done by students.
Control System Laboratory
This lab is equipped with latest sophisticated kits. This lab consists of P,PI, PID Controller, AC Servo Motor , Position Control System kits, Stepper Motor Controller, Synchro Transmitter and Receiver. Apart form regular trainer kits , students are given training in MATLAB simulation.
Power Electronics Laboratory
As a new trend in emerging electronics field, power electronics plays a vital role in manufacturing UPS, Ac/Dc drives and control instruments. The lab has an excellent assortment of modules to study the behavior of SCR’s, TRIAC’s,MOSFET’s, IGBT’s, chopper controlled dc drives, PWM controlled converters, etc. Simulink software with Matlab is available which optimizes the design technique through simulation.
SEEE Association
The students are encouraged to organize and participate in various technical symposiums that facilitate the presentation of technical papers on current topics and projects. To expose our professionals to the current trends in technical development, the association invites guest lectures on topics of interest. The association also conducts quiz programmes, mock interviews, industrial visits, group discussions, seminars etc., to bring out the technical and communication skills.

• Mrs.M.Padmavathy,Mr.A.Nazar Ali & Mr.G.Haridoss M.E (Power Electronics and Drives) got University Rank I,II & III in Anna University of Technology,Coimbatore During the academic year 2009.
• Mrs.V.Indiragandhi M.E (Power Electronics and Drives) got University Rank I in Anna University of Technology, Coimbatore During the academic year 2010.
• Ms.S.Ragavi, P.L.Chellameena of IV EEE won the first prize in paper presentation at Vivekanandha College of Engineering for women.
• Mr.N.Santhosh,P.Vasanth of III EEE won the first prize in paper presentation at Jaya Laksmi Institute of Technology.
• Mr.R.Shriram won the first prize in My Idea Programme at Annai Mathammal Sheela Engineering & Vellore Institute of Technology.
• Mr.M.Rahul, Mr.R.Shriram of III EEE won the first prize in QUIZ Competition at AVS Engineering College.
•Mr.S.Soundharajan,Mr.R.Haiharan of III EEE won the second prize in Circuit Debugging at PGP College of Technology.
• Two staff members presented international and 10 staff members presented National conference at various institution.
