About The Department
Duration of this course is 4 years. This course consists of 8 semesters, each has six months duration. Salient feature of this course is, it covers entire related field such as production, Aeronautical, Automobile, Machine Design, CAD/CAM, power plant Engg, etc., This course gives in depth knowledge in mechanical field.

In this lab, students are acquired the knowledge about different flow measurement equipments and pumps. Students are made to familiar to conduct the performance tests on these equipments and analyse its working scientifically.
Thermal Lab
In this lab students are made to expose with different hermal equipements such as interanl combustion engines, Air conditioner, refrigerator, Air compressor, etc. Students are trained to study and test the performance and working of these equipments.
CAD/CAM Lab
Computer Aided Design(CAD) deals with the drafting, modelling and detail designing of a component. Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAM) deals with the manufacturing of a component using the design database. The students are trained in this lab to enhance their operating skills of the imported and advance CNC machine tools.
Achievements:
1. Mechanical Department has organized a certificate programme in “CNC programming & machining operations” jointly with M/S MTAB Engineering Pvt.Ltd., Chennal from 07.06.2010 to 12.06.2010.
2. Placement trainings like soft skills, technical training, and communication skills are given periodically to cope up the students to meet MNC requirements.
3. An awareness program was conducted on emerging Job opportunities for mechanical engineering in CAD/CAM by M/S UNIX solutions Pvt. Ltd, NKL.
4. Final gear students are placed in the following MNCS.

• JCB Lexels Pvt, Ltd
• HCL Technologies Pvt. Ltd , Chennai.
5. A National level conference has been organized on the topic of technological advances in mechanical engineering (TAME ’11) on 16.03.2011.
6. In our department students are participated in National level paper presentation and Merit students are awarded.
